Counterpoint Musical Services is a Canadian company dedicated to serving Canadian music retailers with fast, efficient, and friendly personal service. We strive to ship all orders placed by noon on the same day. Think of us as your warehouse: we have no minimum orders, you can order as little and as often as you need.

We are happy to personally answer your calls and questions about our products. All of the members of the Counterpoint team are professionally trained musicians with a wide range of experience between them. Owner George Ullmann, a graduate of the U of T Faculty of Music, has almost 40 years experience in the industry and visits all major trade fairs on three continents to search out the best available products from the world’s music equipment manufacturers. Manager Kathleen Stokholm holds degrees from The University of Western Ontario, Queen’s University and The University of British Columbia in performance flute. Customer service representative Ciprian (Chip) Mihailescu earned his Professional Certificate specializing in Viola from the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Counterpoint was originally established in 1994. At that time we operated both a publishing and an instrumental division. In June 2008, the publishing division was sold to its long time manager, Jean-Marie Barker. This separation has enabled the instrumental distribution division to focus all of our energies on the importing and wholesale distribution of orchestral and band instruments and their accessories. We are proud to represent quality products including Stentor violins, Mirage band instruments, Akord-Kvint string instruments, Thomastik and Pirastro strings, Kun shoulder rests, Superslick lubricants, Fibracell reeds, Hamilton music and instrument stands and Wittner metronomes.

While we advertise our exclusive brands in various Canadian trade magazines and display at MIAC and OMEA conferences, we do not sell directly to the public or to schools, but rather, channel sales through any one of our many retail customers.
