The Perpetual Set for Violin
One string will never satisfy every player, individual tastes and requirements are simply too diverse. For this reason we enjoy developing and producing a broad and varied range of strings, inspired by the needs and wishes of individual musicians worldwide.
Thanks to innovative materials and adopting new, carefully matched production methods, the development of Pirastro Perpetual resulted in a string set with a character not yet found in our product family. Within our range of violin strings, Pirastro Perpetual provides the largest sound volume and carrying power combined with a precisely focused sound projection. The clarity of its sound, however, does not diminish the abundance of colours Perpetual offers. Its vibrant tone attack and optimal string response seamlessly complement Perpetual's sound qualities from extreme fortissimo to the most sensitive whisper.
The Perpetual violin strings react in an ideal way to the finest nuances in bow speed and pressure; this enables the musician to play with an extreme range of dynamics and expression. The innovative core material allows a comfortable smoothness during legato, shifting, string crossings, double stops and chords. The extended reverberation of the Perpetual brings forth an exuberant lustre.
Although during the first 24 hours the Pirastro Perpetual develop towards an even smoother sound, an extreme tuning stability is reached immediately after stringing the instrument.
Another advancement in the Perpetual set is the platinum plated E-string which we offer in the gauges 0.26 mm and 0.267 mm. The 0.26 mm E sounds silvery and very brilliant, while the stronger 0.267 mm E provides a slightly darker, more voluminous tone. Both E-strings are equipped with a removable ball end.
The standard set will include a synthetic core G-, D-, and A-string with the 0.26 mm E-string.
Perpetual Steel A
The opinions, habits and preferences in the violin world are split when it comes to choosing between A-strings with a metal or those with a synthetic core. Aiming first of all to provide a choice for all players we additionally developed a high quality, steel core A-string with a chrome-steel winding.
Starting with its sound spectrum, this A-string has nothing in common with the traditional steel string. It sounds rounder, more colourful and very voluminous. Combined with the synthetic core Perpertual G- and Dstrings, this new A offers an organic transition with the D-string. Any fear of increased pressure on the instrument due to the use of a steel A-string is unfounded when using our steel-A Perpetual; this A-string does not burden the body more than the synthetic core A-string.
Like the Perpetual E, the steel A also comes with a removable ball and is therefore compatible with all types of finetuner. You can check the string tensions of all our strings on pirastro.com.
The Perpetual steel core A-string and the 0.267 mm platinumplated E-string are available as singles.
